Excerpt:

She did her best to blend in, walking around, drink in hand. Then she saw Holly. This time she wasn’t letting her get away, so she locked in on her.

Arching her eyebrow, Holly said, “So you’re back, I see. How would you like to go do something bad?”

Jackie felt her heart race like she was running a marathon. Her nipples hardened and her insides quivered. Smiling, she replied, “What did you have in mind?”

“Whatever you’d like.”

Jackie led her to the pool house. She imagined feeling the warmth of the woman’s smooth naked skin against hers.

They slipped into the darkness. The glow of the full moon provided their only light. Closing the door, Holly was suddenly all over her. “Are you ready for the ride of your life?” Holly asked.

Jackie barely got, “Oh, yes” out of her mouth when Holly’s mouth was upon hers. She worked her tongue into Jackie’s mouth and their tongues danced. Reaching behind Jackie, she unzipped her dress and gently moved it over her shoulders. It fell to the floor and Jackie kicked it away.

What Others are Saying:

I love reading and I especially love reading books where I am instantly captured by the characters and their storyline. I love that feeling of becoming one of the characters and I "fall in" the story and I am right there along-side them. That is what I encountered in this book. ~ Sylvia T. Santos

What I found fascinating is how this woman can be developing her spiritual side but still be so oblivious to her problems. This makes an interesting character study. I did like the ending, which answered some questions for me and left me feeling hopeful. ~ KLH

Lynn Lawler is a fiction writer, who writes stories greatly inspired by the LGBTQ community and her own experiences. Her novel, Awakened By Fate is a story about a woman in denial about her true potential who encounters a reality that opens her up to a new awareness; suddenly things she feared the most became her life.

Lynn has had a lifelong interest in writing and wrote short stories while in school. In college, she wrote an editorial that was published in The Detroit Free Press. It focused on the positives of children’s education in the sciences. She found this to be very inspiring and felt that people needed awareness to create an attraction for students to study these.

During her early adult years, Lynn went on a spiritual journey to Arizona seeking enlightenment. While there she got to experience some things that were life-changing. She first managed a vendor booth, selling nutritional supplements at an open market. Then, as one door closed another one opened. After this job ended the next day she started working at a produce department in Tempe, AZ. While working at the coop, she educated people on sprouting as well as the health benefits of juicing. Lynn is vegan and has been vegetarian her whole adult life.

She also has work experience in Architectural design. She likes the creativity of this field, but her passion lies in writing.

Lynn started writing several years ago after she watched a documentary on the life of the 20th-century writer Willa Cather. At the same time, she experienced a loss that encouraged her to take this direction. After writing the initial outline and first draft, the author embraced a new awareness that changed the path of her life. The trials of Lynn’s life have only served as stepping stones to a brighter outlook and a stronger spirit.

Lynn has always been a fan of books with some of her favorite authors being Mary Higgins Clark and J.K. Rowling. She also loves reading the works of other LGBTQ authors such as Suzie Carr, KA Moll, and Amy Dunne. She enjoys material of the unknown, mysterious, and mystical.

She is the owner of Lynn Lawler’s Book Blog, a site where she has interviews and reviews. It can be found at www.lynnlawler.wordpress.com and www.lynnlawler.blogspot.com.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, meditation and watching baseball. She lives in SoCal with her wife and cats.

Series: The Eastern Shore Swingers - Book 3, Standalone

BOOK REVIEW

A steamy story that follows the ongoings  and drama surrounding the members of a swinging club.

Sirena is a beautiful and bold new member who is causing quite a stir at the Factory. She is sexy and single which makes her attractive to every member of the club and yet the butt of jealousy from some women.

She is quite an enigma, no one really knows her outside the club and club management wants to unravel the mystery surrounding her. So they recruit Jessie to investigate Sirena.

Jessie is a cop and also single and she finds Sirena very attractive. Of course keeping an eye on Sirena becomes handsy and soon there are feelings coming into play that Jessie can't seem to stop.

But when the truth about Sirena starts unraveling, will Jessie be able to get the woman to trust her and can she also get over past heartache.

This story built up slowly for me as Jessie worked to find out about Sirena. We got to see that was going on at the club through Jessie's eyes. There is a host of secondary characters and plenty of drama. It was interesting reading about the lives of swingers.

However there were some things about Jessie's character that just rubbed me up the wrong way. Example was her attitude towards an African doctor whom she referred to as having 'some African name she couldn't pronounce' and then later as 'Dr. Whatever-Her-Name'. This coming from a character who got mad because someone else referred to her as 'Mexican' while she was Puerto Rican.
The thing she didn't like in others she displayed.

Anyway, that aside I found the love scenes really well written, sensual and sexy. Jessie is a woman who knows what she wants in bed and she brings it every time.

Overall, this is my first time of reading this author and I would read her again. An enjoyable read.

Jessie Martinez had wanted to be a cop from the time she was a little girl. With a strong sense of justice and an unwavering desire to help those around her, she never felt more fulfilled than she did in uniform. When the Sheldons asked her to keep an eye on one of their swing club members, she was more than happy to oblige. But she found it impossible to keep an eye on Sirena without her heart wanting in on the action ... not to mention other parts of her body.

Sirena Horne used the local swing club, The Factory, as an escape. She knew Jessie meant well, but there was no way she was opening herself to any more heartache than she already carried. She'd have to be pretty desperate to reveal her secrets, but Jessie had such a way about her. Sirena wasn't sure how much longer she could keep her walls from tumbling down.

Excerpt:
Eden had been dreading this day since the moment her sister, Carol, had announced she was getting married. A wedding was supposed to be a happy occasion, a cause for celebration. But not when your sister was marrying the brother of your ex-best friend.
Eden had done a successful job of avoiding said ex-best friend for ten years, crying off any get-togethers, school reunions, and even her sister’s engagement and hen parties. Understandably, it had made her incredibly unpopular with Carol and their parents, but she’d had to put up with their displeasure for the sake of her own sanity.
Today, though, Janine or no Janine, Eden was going to her sister’s wedding. It was kind of crucial, really, given she was chief bridesmaid. She was just thankful that Janine hadn’t been asked to be a bridesmaid. That would have been problematic.
“I honestly don’t understand what happened between the two of you. What made you fall out so badly that you still want to avoid her?” Carol was asking, as the hairdresser put the finishing touches to her up-do, then settled her tiara on top of it, leaving the attached veil trailing down her back.
Well you wouldn’t, would you? Eden thought, trying hard not to let her emotions show on her face. You’ve never been confused about your sexuality and come on to your best friend, have you? But she kept quiet, determined not to ruin her sister’s special day.
“Can you even remember what happened?” Carol continued, thanking the hairdresser and standing up. She moved over to the full-length mirror in the room and examined herself from every angle. The hairdresser held up another mirror so the bride could see the back of her hair. She nodded.
“Yes,” Eden replied shortly, then added, “You look beautiful, sis. Really gorgeous.”
Inside her head, though, she was already reliving that fateful night.
