Kay's Review
One of the perks of reading stories in an anthology is that in the
space of a few hours you get to sample different authors and perhaps discover
new ones you haven't read before.
It goes without saying that all the stories in this anthology sizzled
with eroticism, so I'll focus on other aspects of each story.
This book opens with The Exhibition by London Saint James,
one of the new-to-me authors. Her descriptive writing style is beautiful and I
found myself getting lost in the fantasy of the exhibition and wishing I was
physically there in the scenes she created. There was an 'ouch' moment for me
that involved a scene with virgin backside penetration without adequate lubrication.
I enjoyed Raven McAllan's tale about the challenges of growing a
relationship when one partner is away in Amazing Maisie. Raven is such a
master (or should that be mistress) when it comes to writing stories with
strong females and creative BDSM settings.
Liberating
Lua by Elyzabeth M. VaLey, another new-to-me author, was a
delight to read. I loved getting lost in a medieval setting with a wife who
wanted to please her husband in every way possible. I'm a big fan of stories
about married couple so this tugged my heartstrings. I would've loved this
story more if Elyzabeth had written the language in keeping with the medieval
setting instead of the modern terminologies in places.
Taboo
by Doris O'Connor is my favourite in this anthology. Then again it's hard
to read anything she writes without enjoying it. As always she manages to get
the right balance of the emotional conflict with the sexual tension in this
story about falling in love with an older man who happens to be your father's
best friend.
Lock
Stock and Spank by R Brennan (new-to-me author) was another story
that delighted me. In this story, Beth is recovering from a cheating ex-partner
and Alexander lost his partner to cancer. I loved that despite her previous
experience she was willing to give Alexander a chance. However, I would've
loved to read more on-the-page interaction between Alex and Beth and less of
her introspection.
The
Cowboy and The Schoolmarm is a charming read. I loved Shiloh and
his quest to get back the woman he has always loved who had married his rival
and was now a widow. Nikki Prince's sexy heroes and feisty heroines always make
for a hot read.
If you enjoy sizzling BDSM erotica, go and pick up your copy. A great read for a winter's night. I'll definitely be reading more from all these
authors in future.
