Snow & Winter: Book One
It’s Christmas, and all antique dealer Sebastian Snow wants is for his business to make money and to save his floundering relationship with closeted CSU detective, Neil Millett. When Snow’s Antique Emporium is broken into and a heart is found under the floorboards, Sebastian can’t let the mystery rest.
He soon finds himself caught up in murder investigations that echo the macabre stories of Edgar Allan Poe. To make matters worse, Sebastian’s sleuthing is causing his relationship with Neil to crumble, while at the same time he’s falling hard for the lead detective on the case, Calvin Winter. Sebastian and Calvin must work together to unravel the mystery behind the killings, despite the mounting danger and sexual tension, before Sebastian becomes the next victim.
In the end, Sebastian only wants to get out of this mess alive and live happily ever after with Calvin.
BOOK REVIEW
So you know how some books take you a while to get into them. But once they've gathered momentum, you can't put them down because you're enjoying the story so much. This is one of those books. I picked up this book a few times and put it down. But this time I stuck with it and I'm so glad I did.
Sebastian owns the Antique Emporium and one day discovers the rotting heart of a pig under the floorboards of his business. There has obviously been a break-in but nothing seems to be missing and someone seems to be playing a crazy prank with the pig's heart. Calvin is the detective in charge of the case and once Seb discovers the dead body of his former boss, the mystery ramps up.
In the meantime, Seb's relationship with long-term boyfriend Neil is deteriorating and that goes further south when Seb won't quit sleuthing to solve the ongoing mystery. With Neil out of the picture, things develop between Seb and Calvin pretty fast. But when Seb finds out Calvin is as closeted as Neil, he'd left wondering what the future holds for them.
As I mentioned earlier, this story was a slow burn for me. But once Calvin got into the scene and got together with Sebastian, I couldn't help falling into the story. The two of them together steamed up the pages. Fans of Edgar Allan Poe will enjoy the mystery but it was the romance between Calvin and Sebastian that had my heart racing. I loved these two and every scene with the two of them together. Even the ending was absolute perfection.
