In the Hot Seat series, we interview characters from some of our favourite books and ask them 20 probing questions.
Today, we have Athol from A Dom's Decision by Raven McAllan featured as part of our #LGBTApril month. Now on to the interview. J
- What do you consider your greatest
achievement?
Being
honest? Oh honey, I don't think I'm anywhere near having a greatest achievement,
unless you call standing up to my parents, Helping Anna and Cade, or admitting
to Edan I'd been a stubborn…*ahem*, an achievement.
- What is your idea of perfect
happiness?
Honestly,
openness, and Edan.
- What is your current state of mind?
Positive,
but it was hard earned.
- What is your most treasured
possession?
I
have two. A photo booth picture of three people, and a tiny three inch teddy
bear that farts when you press its middle. Then it says pardon me. Edan gave it
to me years ago and it lives in the bathroom.
Kay: So cute
- What or who is the greatest love of
your life?
Edan,
but there is a close second.
- What is your most marked characteristic?
Stubbornness
- When and where were you the
happiest?
Today,
every day, because each day is my chance to make my life better.
- What is it that you most dislike?
Liver
- What is your greatest fear?
Having
to eat liver. Seriously, to lose what I've just found.
- What is your greatest extravagance?
Fine
wine. I'd rather slip one glass of a good South African Pinotage than slurp a
bottle of rubbish.
- What is your greatest regret?
Getting
on my high horse and losing Edan for so long.
- What is the quality you most like in
a man?
Honestly.
- What is the trait you most deplore
in yourself?
Stubbornness.
- What is the trait you most deplore
in others?
Dishonesty
- What do you most value in your
friends?
Honesty,
discretion and their friendship.
- Who is your favorite hero, fictional
or real?
Raffles.
- On what occasions do you lie?
I
don't, not now. Not even if a lady asks me "Does my bum look big in this."
Kay: LOL. It's a good thing you prefer men, then, Athol.
- Which is your favorite word or
phrase?
Try.
- What is your least favorite word or
phrase?
I
can't.
- If you could change one thing about
yourself, what would it be?
The
fact my beard grows in patchy. And ginger.
Thank you to Athol and Raven for indulging us.
You can find out more about Athol and Edan in A Dom's Decision out now. Here's the blurb:
Athol Donaldson lost many people in his life, his lover, his family, his twin. The latter loss seems hardly worth morning over. Affric caused nothing but trouble when alive, and now, he seems intent on causing trouble from beyond the grave.
It forces Athol to seek out the one man he's never forgotten.
Eden Murdoch has no intention of letting Athol slip through his fingers again. He's lost him once, and as they're forced to pull together to unravel the mystery surrounding the parentage of a teenage girl, their love for each other blossoms.
Surely, being Doms doesn't mean they can't compromise? Will they be able to work out their differences, and find lasting happiness, or will this blast from the past prove to be their final undoing?
