Allegra is in New York for a business event and she has a plan to break the one-year dry spell of no man. She's going to find a man and have a one-night stand. Well, that was the plan until Devlin shows up. Devlin is all kind of hot and really the perfect candidate but she had history and a misunderstanding with him from last year, so he is a no-no. But Devlin is not a man who easily gives up and he manages to persuade her to give him a chance. He will fulfil her fantasy for one night.
And boy, did he deliver on the positions. We all need a man like Devlin. Be prepared for some hot love scene. I thought it all ended a little quickly. But hey, I had book 2 ready to read, so I can't complain.
Longing
Well, Allegra thought she'd escaped Devlin after she walked away from him (See Resist). But as I indicated in the last review for book 1, Devlin is not a man who gives up easily. He shows up months later and she now has to work with him and see him every day. For how long can she say no to him. Devlin knows how to be tender and how to be intense. It's impossible not to love him. He wants her and she wants him, if she's honest. With time she changes and her feelings evolve as she lets go of her fears. Do they get to a happy ever after? You're going to have to read it to find out. Be prepared more more hotness.
Excerpt
I expect him to leave, but he continues standing in front of me. That panty-dropping cologne enters my nostrils again and I can't move. “Um, I need to...work...stuff.”
“I don't want to walk away just yet.”
What does he mean by that? My breath catches in my throat. “What are we doing?” I whisper.
He tilts his head. “Whatever you want.” His fingers graze across the edge of my jaw.
Focus, Allegra. “I...uh...” I heave a heavy sigh. “Look—we had a great night together. But that's all it was—it's what we agreed to.” A one-night stand is a one-night stand for a reason. This reason right in front of me.
“I promised you one night of passion. I didn't promise that it would be the last.”
“I never said I wanted more than that.”
He comes closer, our breaths now mingling. “Your reaction to me begs to differ.”
“Just because you can turn me on doesn't mean I want you.”

Well, I know now that he's still interested. What I don't know is if I'm the reason he came here. It's only a matter of time before he reveals the truth to me. I just have to hope I can keep it in my pants in the meantime.
