Lies & Diamonds & Bears by Ethan Stone
Narrated by Greg Boudreaux
Sometimes you do get a second chance at first love
Diamond magnate Sly Carson is headed to the Hotel Incognito, the premier resort for gay men in Las Vegas. He plans to take advantage of the time away from his homophobic father and have as much fun as possible. But the fun ends when he bumps into his old flame, Rory Klein.
Rory's job working at a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center has left him emotionally drained. A few days away was supposed to relax him, but there's nothing relaxing about facing the man who broke his heart in college.
Twenty years have passed, but time doesn't necessarily heal all wounds. This weekend could be their last chance to make things right, but a confession from Sly could ruin everything.
Some stories just get better second time around and this is one of them. I read the ebook and loved so I jumped at the chance to listen to the audiobook when it came out.
One of the things I love about audiobooks is the narrator's ability to take a great story and bring it to life in your mind without you having to flip pages. I believe a narrator can make or break an audiobook.
The narrator does an awesome job in bringing the story alive. I love the little nuances in the dialogues that identified the different characters as well as the overall narrative. I didn't have to struggle to identify who'd POV or who was speaking.
On the whole I loved this audiobook. I loved revisiting Rory and Sly as they lay the ghosts of the past to rest and get a second chance at love at Hotel Incognito.
On a personal note, i'd like to know if the author will write another story in this series. There's definitely the scope for it.
