In the Hot Seat series, we interview characters from some of our favourite books and ask them 20 probing questions.
Today, I have the pleasure of interviewing not just one but two characters from the Blood Series by +Elizabeth Morgan I am so excited about this fabulous book series.
So join me in saying a huge welcome to Brendan and Owen.
Now on to the interview. J
Owen: "Can't say I have either."
Brendan: "Yeah, nothing is springing to mind for me either."
Owen: "Absolutely nothing."
Brendan: Sighs. "A decade ago I would have given you a list, but I am the way I am and it has taken me a long time to accept that. So, nothing."

- Welcome to our blog, Gents. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Brendan: "I had a
couple of bad years when I first joined the Pack . . . Anyway; I finished my
degree at University and became a freelance Architect. I've made a lot of good
deals with companies, got contractors I can rely on. So, I guess getting my
life back on track and surviving for this long is a good enough achievement."
Owen: "I've achieved a few things in my life, but I can't say that any of those achievements stand out. I'm a High School P.E. Teacher. I guess that's something considering I hated school."
Owen: "I've achieved a few things in my life, but I can't say that any of those achievements stand out. I'm a High School P.E. Teacher. I guess that's something considering I hated school."
- What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Owen: "Spending the rest of my life with Clare . . . and if we just so happen to be in bed a lot of the time, even better."
Brendan: "I don't believe in perfect happiness."
- What is your current state of mind?
Owen: Slides a look to Brendan. "Questionable."
Brendan: We have a lot on our plate at the moment. Three of our Pack members have been taken by Vampires, and we have no idea where they have been taken too. Possibly Italy, but—"
Owen: "It's a hunch. One we're following now we have wiped every leech from the UK."
- What is your most treasured possession?
Brendan: Absently rests his hand on the ring hanging from the braided leather necklace around his neck.
Owen: "Clare."
Brendan: Looks at Owen with a cocked eyebrow. "I doubt Clare would appreciate being called a possession."
Owen: Shrugs. "She wouldn't, but she is the most treasured thing that belongs to me. And she does belong to me as much as I belong to her."
- What or who is the greatest love of your life?
Owen: "Clare. She is my mate after all and I have to admit it still feels crazy saying it out loud, but f**k me if it isn't the truth. Although if you would have asked me that question a couple of months back I would have said football. Sports are the reason I decided to become a P.E. teacher. I would have loved to have been a footballer, but it would be dangerous having any Werewolf out on a pitch against humans, especially if I was that Werewolf."
Brendan: Looking at the floor. "Next question please."
- What is your most marked characteristic?
Brendan: A faint smile rests on his lips as he looks up and points to the scar running from his forehead to the outer corner of his left eye. "Mines obvious, I guess."
- When and where were you the happiest?
Brendan: Voice becomes strained. "The first two years of University, before . . ." trails off as focus drifts back to floor.
Owen: "The first night Clare and I were, you know, together. It was the first night of the full moon and we were in her room at my father's house, the Pack keep. We were completely alone, and I dunno, everything just felt right."
- What is it that you most dislike?
Brendan: A growl caught in his throat. "Rogues."
Owen: "And Leeches; Vampires that is. Scum. Oh, and when the lads moan during lessons. Girls moaning is one thing, but boys, f**king grates on my nerves."
- What is your greatest fear?
Owen: "Losing Clare, and any harm coming to my family or Pack."
Brendan: "Failing again…" Clears throat. "Failing to help Heather. Failing to keep her alive."
Owen: Lightly punches Brendan in the arm. "She can take care of herself."
Brendan. "Besides the point."
- What is your greatest extravagance?
Owen: "Afraid we don't really do extravagance. You never know where or when a fights going to break out—"
Brendan: "Owen recently broke all the furniture in his house fighting three Rogues."
Owen: "Killing three Rogues. Arseholes."
Brendan: "So, there would be no point going crazy buying expensive things because nine times out of ten they will end up broken."
- What is your greatest regret?
Owen: "Upsetting Clare when she was sixteen. I handled that conversation all wrong."
Brendan: "Coming to Scotland, bringing her—"
Owen: "Don't go there, man."
Brendan: Dry laugh. "Yeah, past is better in the past, right?" Runs fingers through his hair. "Next question, please."
- What is the quality you most like in a woman?
Brendan: "Erm—"
Owen: "Confidence. A girl who has spirit and can stand on her own two feet."
Brendan: "I guess I agree with Owen. If she has confidence in herself and her beliefs, well, you have to admire that in a woman. Plus, a sense of humor always helps."
- What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Brendan: "My mood swings."
Owen: "I don't know really."
Brendan: Stares at him. "You're kidding, right? How about your short temper, or maybe your irrational way of handling things?"
Owen: Shrugs. "Yeah, I guess either of those."
Brendan: Rolls eyes.
- What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Brendan: "Ill manners. I can't stand people being rude. There's just no need for it. Civility costs nothing."
Owen: "Self pity. We all go through tough times and don't get me wrong sometimes we need to take a day or two to wallow, but then you gotta get off your arse and get on with your life. No point dragging that pain and guilt around with you, because it becomes poisonous to yourself and your future."
- What do you most value in your friends?
Brendan: Jaw is tense as he glances at Owen. "Honesty, even if it is hard to take sometimes."
Owen: "Loyalty, but also strength and determination. I know a lot of people who have had hard lives, and the fact they keep going when a lot of people would have given up, well…" Glances at Brendan. "I respect them for that."
- Who is your favorite hero, fictional or real?
Brendan: "As a kid I use to like Superman—"
Owen: "Only we're a lot cooler than Superman."
Brendan: "But we can't fly, and we don't have heat vision—"
Owen: "But we are real whereas he is a fictional character. Therefore, we are cooler than Superman."
- On what occasions do you lie?
Brendan: "I never lie. I may skirt around the truth, but I don't lie."
Owen: "Me neither. It's a waste of time. Yeah, you might hurt someone's feelings, but better to be honest even if what you have to say is horrible, than to weave a web that you will end up getting tangled in."
- Which is your favorite word or phrase?
Owen: "I say the F-bomb a lot." Looks at Brendan. "And funnily enough, you say screw a lot, Bren."
Brendan: "Yeah, I guess I do, but then I suppose a lot of people have a habit of saying a selection of words more than others. Can't say I have a favorite word or phrase, though."
Owen: "I just find it funny that the words we use a lot are basically a different way of saying the same thing."
Brendan: "Yeah, it's hilarious." Shakes head.
- What is your least favorite word or phrase?
Owen: "Can't say I have either."
Brendan: "Yeah, nothing is springing to mind for me either."
- If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Owen: "Absolutely nothing."
Brendan: Sighs. "A decade ago I would have given you a list, but I am the way I am and it has taken me a long time to accept that. So, nothing."
Thank you so much to Brendan, Owen and Elizabeth for indulging us.
