Something in the Way He Needs (Family #1) by Cardeno C.
Police captain Asher Penaz’s staunch professionalism bleeds into his home life, down to his neatly pressed attire and spartan apartment. He enjoys being the man in charge, and leather bars satisfy his need for dominance—so his sudden and powerful attraction to the lighthearted, free-spirited Daniel Tover throws him for a loop. In his entire life, Daniel has never gotten what he needs, so he moves to the next place, the next job, the next attempt to find something worth staying for, always landing at the top of his game, but never feeling like he belongs.
The chemistry between Asher and Daniel sizzles, so Asher invites Daniel home. As both men struggle to learn themselves while getting to know each other, the lines of desire and control blur. With all that fire comes the risk of getting burned. But if Daniel and Asher can walk through the flames together, they might find what they desperately need

I loved this beautiful love story between a man who is always in charge but whose control starts to fall apart the minute he meets a free-spirited man who just wants to be needed.
I have to say I fell in love with Daniel. Who wouldn't. He is free-spirited and gorgeous. As Asher keeps describing him, totally adorable. I love that his awkward clumsiness and ability to get easily distracted he is quite a strong character with hidden depths.
Asher is a man who seems in total control of his life, his home environment is clinical and he is in charge at work. I love that from the first time he sees Daniel in Las Vegas all that control falls away and you can witness him falling helplessly in love even if he refuses to admit it at first.
Dare I say their chemistry is off the charts and the heat level of this romance is exactly where I wanted it. Sizzling. The romance was heart-warming as well. And the black moment was heart-wrenching. I really couldn't believe Asher lost that much control of the situation. But then again it had been building for a while.
There is a happy ending for these two at the end. But do I think Asher's jealousy will rear it's ugly head again. Yes, I do. But then again, Daniel doesn't seem to mind.
My only beef is that I feel Daniel gave in way too easily. I think Asher should've been tortured a little bit more. In any case, this is a fabulous read and I recommend it easily.

This is my favourite book of the series so far.
Emilio is working on a construction site opposite Spencer's office when the two meets for the first time. While Spencer watches him from his office window surreptitiously, Emilio plots how he can engineer a meeting between the two of them. One day he walks up to him in a car park and boom, like a runaway train, Emilio convinces Spencer to let him spend the day, night and even weekend with him.
Spencer is smart and older but he is also timid and almost afraid of his own shadow. Emilio immediately realises the man hides past hurts and wants to protect him. But while their relationship sparks and sizzles, Spencer does not trust easily and it take a lot of work for Emilio to get him where he actually feel comfortable enough for certain things.
I love both Spencer and Emilio and even Emilio's brothers. All the characters are engaging and fun and I really lapped up this story. It was sweet and spicy all rolled up into a book I couldnt put down until I was done.
Absolutely fabulous!

This was the most difficult story in the series to get into. I confess I couldn't connect with Chase as a narrator. I found his rambling style just too distracting. For me characters like him are great to watch in a sitcom but I don't particularly want to stay in their head too long. He just talked a lot in a roundabout way. By the time I got into the other characters POV I just wanted to move on.
Anyway, this is still a decent read, It is sweet and romantic and HOT. I'm not sure I've read a love triangle quite like this one and Chase was a little too accomodating after everything that happened, in my opinion.
After reading and loving the previous 2 books in this series, this is one author whose books I'll be happy to read any day. This one just didn't hit all my buttons. But don't take my word for it. Read it for yourself and decide.

Cardeno C. - CC to friends - is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever-after sunset.
Cardeno's Home, Family, and Mates series have received awards from Love Romances and More Golden Roses, Rainbow Awards, the Goodreads M/Romance Group, and various reviewers. But even more special to CC are heartfelt reactions from readers, like, "You bring joy and love and make it part of the every day."
