Her body is his to command, her heart his to win.
Selina Moss bared her body to her husband and allowed him to see her and touch her like no one else has ever done. When a member of the family visits, she realizes there is still so much about her husband she doesn't know.
Benjamin's remorse about his family history drives his actions. Selina is his present and he'll do whatever it takes to protect her from being contaminated by his past, including revealing the shame that burns his soul.
But for Selina, finding out about Benjamin's past means investing emotionally in a man who's only going to walk away once their temporary arrangement comes to an end. Is she ready to bare her heart to him along with the secrets of their past?
What secrets do you hide? We've all got them. Some are easily swept aside. Yet others are dark and threaten to pull us into despair. While others are shameful and best kept uncovered. Welcome to Selina's and Benjamin's world.
I thought Kiru wrote a pretty great book with Scars, giving us the right balance of the erotic and the emotional. In this book, she takes it up a notch, peeling back the layers and baring all.
I love this book. We really get to see the characters develop and fall in love with each other. I love the moment when Selina realises she feels more for Benjamin than perhaps she should.
When had their relationship translated into more than a
physical yearning? When did she start not just wanting him, but needing him?
or this one
She could never offer herself to any other man the way
she offered her body to Benjamin. She knew that now. In that sense, he was the Master
of her body.
We also get to find out about Benjamin's and Selina's pasts and how she got the scars on her body when their secrets are revealed.
My favorite scene has got to be the scene where Benjamin returns and finds Selina in the kitchen after she's burnt her arm. The tug of emotions in that scene made my eyes cloud with tears because I could so relate to her fear. And having a man who understands you that much is just...I can't even express the emotion.
All I can say it that I'm so glad to have the next instalment of the series, Scores, ready to read. I can't wait to find out what happens when they get to South Africa. Fabulous read.
