Having read other books by Ms Winslow I was looking forward to this book. As expected it was hot and spicy – the latter coming from the theme of food. Soul food created with love and mixed with passion. Book Review
However, I have to say this didn’t grab me in the same way as the other books.
The story is essentially about a rich girl, Rosa, trying to make her own mark in the restaurant business that her family is known for and with her family backing her financially. Again she, like the other ladies in this series of books, like sex, the hotter the better – steam galore. All this is fine and dandy but for me it did not hit home. I did not connect with her or the hero Eliseo, a sexy chef with a clouded past. Of course he was hot in his chef’s uniform and out of it too and knew how to please a woman.
The first person, present tense took a while to get into this time, and I found the revealing of the character backgrounds in the form of thoughts or recollections jarred a little and took my attention away from the scene that was unfolding or the conversations that were happening. It was great to see old characters such as Lily, Alejandro, Dahlia and Roderigo popping up every now and then; it was like seeing old friends and it provided an effective link to the past books.
This is a story about challenge, barriers to overcome, dilemmas, confusion, some mystery which adds complication and sex – resulting in many hot scenes.
On a side note there were some new characters introduced – Eddie and Charo who’s budding relationship was rather sweet and I would like to find out more about them.

Rosa pushes Eliseo onto his back and begins to mark him with her nails and teeth. She loves that he likes when she’s rough with him, and every mutual bite makes her wetter. It compels you to want to give more of yourself than you’d imagined possible. Eliseo had tried to do the same for Rosa. To give her everything he could. Yet, if he were entirely honest with himself, he would have admitted to himself earlier that it wasn’t enough. Perhaps one day he can prove that he’s no longer burdened by the weight of his emotional baggage. Until then, he’ll show his love to her every way he can.
She digs her nails into his chest as she continues to suck his cock, his hips moving in rhythm.
